Games EPPF Plays October 15, 2006 In the United States the political players have devised well known strategies to execute whenever bad news is in the horizon. The first well known strategy is to release bad news which adversely affects the powers in control i.e Congress, Senate or the White House on late Friday afternoons. This time slot is especially effective because most Americans tend to tune out from the mass media on the weekends. By the time Monday rolls around they are to busy to focus on the news and the bad news is hardly noticed by most Americans. The other tactic is to preempt bad news with either great news or even worse news. This strategy aims at mitigating the negative impact from the bad news. The theory is based on the notion that the attention span can be distracted by throwing out all kinds of breaking news. The Eritrean Personal Property Front (EPPF) has
just released a statement declaring the creation of an Army Division called
Asmelashe Click here to read about it!. First and foremost a real rebel army does
not make such pronouncements via the internet. Rebel armies tend to be
secretive as to protect themselves from the bigger enemy it is supposedly
fighting. Having said that, we would like to invoke strategy two which
is defined above; the strategy to preempt bad news with good news. Yes
EPPF is very anxious about what Azmari Solomon Tekalign is going to say
on Sunday. Recently Solomon has been on a whirlwind tour through out the
Paltlak and various media outlets all but declaring EPPF was a sham and
scam. Therefore, they have apparently decided to influence the court of
public opinion with this announcement. By all logic it is clear that this
announcement aims at preserving the integrity of EPPF. No doubt that it
is meant to reassure its supporters that Solomon is not telling the truth.
In reality it helps Solomon make his case. The timing of this announcement
is suspect and raises a lot of questions. We can not help conclude that
this order came straight from the owner of EPPF Issayas Afeworki. His
wisdom or lack of it has its finger prints all over this announcement!
