According to the Ethiopian blogsite Kirkos (click here to read), the great runner has endorsed Ato Lidetus party. We will wait to hear this from Haile before we take it as fact. Nonetheless, the fact that this was brought to light has upset many of the Paltalk warriors. The verbal insults in various Paltlak rooms and the written slander in some discussion forums testify to our assertion. Lastly, the same Paltalk warriors and disucssion forum authors have expressed vitriolic anger with Haile because the great runner proudly displayed the Ethiopian flag after he won the race in NYC. For the record this is not his first time. Nonetheless the ugly attacks continue unabated. The picture that upset them. Ethiopia carries out rare execution CNN Ethiopian Review Unwittingly proves Ethiopia Economy is indeed growing. For the most part we think you know that we are not impressed with the analytical prowess of those that run the Ethiopian Review website. That is why we never take anything they post seriously. For example the website posted the following comment in regards to a report by the world Economic forum "the facts outlined in the report indicate that Ethiopia's economy is growing backward." (personal note to Elias; please revaluate your sentence nothing can grow backwards. Think about it, if it is not growing, it is shrinking or stagnant.) According to the ER brain trust Ethiopias economy is growing backwards. In fact the ER website confidently linked the report on their website for all to read and learn. We decided to look at the report and learned quite a bit. Thank you ER. What we learned can be summed up as follows. Since EPRDF took over control of Ethiopia, the real GDP of the nation has doubled. This is real growth. This is not growth backwards as described by the self taught economists at ER. In reality before EPRDF from 1980-1992 no growth was noted. During the DERG era our economy shrunk more than it grew. For the most part however it was stagnant. Based on those facts, EPRDF basically started from less than ZERO when they took power. For the most part the poor infrastructure , lack of education, poor healthcare and all other elements can be blamed on the DERG era. All of these have improved significantly since EPRDF came to power as is reflected by the steady growth.We also want to emphasize is that Ethiopia growth will no doubt speed up in the very near future. As we all know the government has invested heavily on improving our infrastructure. Furthermore, the private sector inspired by the ever burgeoning physical infrastructure is investing in factories, buildings, and other investments. The growth we see today is not reflective of what will happen once the Government and private investments converge. In fact we believe this is now beginning to become a reality. The private sector including the Diaspora are seriously engaged in a race to take advantage of this huge opportunity. We seriously would not be surprised if the GDP doubles in the next five years. Fidel Meles Blair Issayas Anderagachew Saturday Humor Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, President Fidel Castro, Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Issayas Afeworki were traveling on a train during an International Conference. During some down time a discussion took place between the four leaders. President Fidel as usual pulled out a Cuban Cigar and begun to smoke it. After a few puffs he decided he was not in the mood and put the cigar out and proceeded to throw it out the window. The ever inquisitive PM Meles asked Fidel, why he would waste such an expensive cigar. President Fidel shook his head and told Meles that in Cuba they had plenty of these Cigars and they were not as expensive. PM Meles shook his head up and down and accepted President Fidels explanation. A few minutes later PM Meles ordered an expensive cup of coffee. After a few sips he realized he wanted to take a nap. As a result, he decided not to finish the coffee. He opened up his window and threw it out of the train. Prime Minister Tony Blair shocked by the act, confronted PM Meles about the wasting the coffee. He even threatened to withhold Aid to Ethiopia. He went on to remind PM Meles that Coffee was bloody expensive in England. PM Melese responded by explaining that in Ethiopia Coffee is plentiful and cheap. PM Blair shook is head from side to side and accepted PM Melese's explanation. The Diaspora heard about the incident and complained as usual to Donald Payne. Congressman Payne amended the HR 2003 BILL to state that no PM of Ethiopia should Waste coffee ever again. Any PM who is caught wasting Coffee would lose all financial support and will be prevented from travelling abroad. PM Tony Blair started to appreciate the pattern in both President Fidel Castros and Prime Minister Meles's explanation. Feeling left out he searched for and found an Indian man on the train. He grabbed the man by his head and proceeded to throw the poor fellow out the window. Shocked, all the leaders with the exception of Issayas asked the Prime Minster why he threw the Indian man out the window? Before he could answer the question both Meles and Fidel figured out the answer. Both of them remembered that there were plenty of Indians in England. Issayas laughed and said he rebuilt his train tracks in Eritrea to do exactly that to his citizens. Issayas was in complete admiration of PM Blair. President Issayas feeling completely left out could not come up with anything he could throw out of the train. He simply could not come up with an item he could use the "we have plenty of in Eritrea" excuse. He thought long and hard but was unable to come up with an item. In order to jump start his brain he even ordered a few Black label Whiskey shots. After a few minutes the whiskeys kicked in and he came up with an item. He reached into his pocket and found a key. He then reached over opened his window and threw out the keys. All of them with the exception of PM Meles were baffled by that action (Meles knows President Issayas is nuts). PM Blair in shock asked Issayas why he threw out his bloody keys. Issays with a big goofy proud smile stated; they were PRISON KEYS. He then followed up with the obvious explanation, We have plenty of Prison Keys in Eritrea! A couple of days later Ethiopian Review reported that Andeargachew Tsigie was on that train. This really made the CUD folks proud since this followed his uninvited appearance in the Accra Ghana African Union Conference. The Ethiopian Review readers sent emails to Ato Elias Kifle asking him if Andeargachew threw anything out the window. A couple of days later Elias Kifle reported back to his readers, that after speaking to Andeargachew he learned that, Anderagachew threw Hailu Shawel out of the window. Now you know the whole story. Good day! Joke of the Day. A picture of Issayas was recently circulated of him flashing the Kinjet style V sign. The picture was passed around the Pro CUD restaurants in Washington DC for all to see. Andeargachew Tsige later announced to the Paltalk room that Issays was going to join CUD. They all got excited because they thought that Issayas joining CUD would give them military power. A couple of days later a Journalist asked Issayas that it was rumored he was going to join Kinijet. Issayas, with a very confused look asked the Journalist what he meant? The journalist explained that it was rumored in Washington DC that he was going to join CUD because a picture of him flashing the V sign was distributed through out the restaurants. Issayas some what smiled then laughed that famous "Issayas laugh" and responded"; I do not know why they made that conclusion". He explained that when he flashed the V sign, he was warning the Eritreans in Diaspora to pay their 2% tax on time. 1150 Eritreans escape to Ethiopia this past month! This is a huge number of people. In order for this many people to take this chance means that their are major economic and political problems. Furthermore, this could not be possible if the military which guard the border has been compromised. Either the military is taking bribes to turn their back or they basically stopped enforcing orders from the top. Ohio Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Provide Material Support to Terrorists (Ogaden Ethiopia) "Today's case should serve notice to those who would take advantage of our country's freedoms to support and conspire with international terrorists who are our sworn enemies," said Assistant" Congress please pass a new bill targeting Derg cadres living in the USA The one part of HR 2003 which did not interfere with Ethiopia's internal affair is the clause which referred to identifying and deporting all Derg Cadres who are wanted in Ethiopia for crimes against humanity. We hope that our government officials will push the Congress to pass a bill which separately addresses this issue. If this becomes a reality we will see how many of those Diaspora cadres will fax and call congress in support of such a bill. This kind of bill (which we know will not be supported by the current vocal Diaspora) will clearly expose to the US Government the real identity and agenda of the current so called pro democracy forces. When this bill is not received warmly by the likes of Al Mariam and his troops, the Congressmen and Senators will be able to see the true agenda of these Derg sympathizers. We have no doubt that this would play a major role in changing the perception that these folks are really democratic forces. We hope our Government in Ethiopia helps us call the bluff on these Derg Cadres who currently are wearing the mask of democracy. AL Mariam misleading Ethiopians in Diaspora. After facing the humiliating defeat in Congress, Professor Al has tried to mitigate his loss by throwing out a very misleading statement. He has stated that in September the bill may be considered again. First and foremost Lantos never said that in his statement and secondly the language he used "may be considered' is a very tricky statement. That statement is truly nothing more than a face saving argument meant to placate his supporters. Lastly we concur with others who stated that the bill whether it passes or not will never change one thing on the ground. Therefore the CUD leaders probably are better off worrying about the real issues that affect their organization. Supreme among them is the big divisions both in Ethiopia and Diaspora. Lantos politely closes HR 2003 Put aside the diplomatic niceties, he has basically told us that the bill will not go in to the full committee. The diaspora has been given a face saving window but the writing is on the wall. A few websites are celebrating this news as victory. What they are celebrating is beyond our comprehension.
